Inspirational Individual: Lemon Breeland

I have only seen part of one episode of the show Hart of Dixie, but I am already OBSESSED with the character Lemon Breeland. (It's a completely shallow obsession based solely on her clothes and the fact that she's a sassy Southern Belle.)
Her clothes are everything a Southern Belle's should be:

And how great is her NAME? Lemon Breeland. I love it. Her sister's name is Magnolia, and she has friends named Annabeth and Crickett. Oh those NAMES! And those CLOTHES! SPRING HURRY UP SO I CAN GET MY PASTELS OUT!
Have a good day!

In Bruges

Today I went to Bruges! The town is like something out of a fairy tale. I feel like if I walked down the little cobblestone streets singing "little town, it's a quiet village, every day like the one before..." people would pop out of the windows of the houses and shout "Bonjour!" (I plan on going back at least two more times, maybe I'll try this out and see if things escalate into a musical number.)

The thing that I dislike the most about how cold it's been here so far (aside from having painfully frozen hands and feet) is that there are SO many places I've found that would be perfect for outfit photos, but taking off my coat to take those outfit photos would almost certainly result in my death. So while we wait for warmer weather, here are some pictures of pretty things in Bruges. =]

Sunny Stripes and Princess Leia Hair

Helloooooo! Today was SO pretty outside... bright and sunny and ALMOST warm enough to get by without a coat! ...Almost. So I was in a pretty happy, dance-down-the-street-ey mood, which was magnified by the fact that my hair looked kind of like this lady's:

Which, I'm sure you'll agree, is a pretty exciting event.
I found the hair tutorial here at Scathingly Brilliant, an abso-stinkin-lutely ADORABLE blog that I just discovered on Saturday and immediately fell in love with.
Without further ado, here is the rest of today's outfit!

...ta-da!

I made the dress from this pattern right before I left for Belgium. I'd seen the fabric lots of times before and was crazy about it, and then one day IT WENT ON SALE and there was much rejoicing/purchasing. The sweater is from a consignment store called Urban Attic in Louisville, the belt is from Target, and the bracelets are from here and there and everywhere.
Have a beautiful day!

Valentine's Day!

I hope your Valentine's Day was wonderful! So many people bemoan the fact that they're single on Valentine's Day--who cares?! There are so many people who love you even if a significant other is not one of them! It is what you make it, whiney Facebook friends of mine. Heavens to betsy, people. (Stepping down from my soapbox now.)
To celebrate the holiday, which doesn't seem to be a huge deal here in Belgium, I hosted a cocktail party! I loooooove to decorate and plan parties, and I think it went rather well, thanks to having great company. =] Now, pictures! (Brace yourself for LOTS of pink)

This was my outfit during the day, before the party--I love turquoise as an accent for red and pink!!

Photo booth!!

What I now realize looks like an altar to alcohol...

Mah hair! (I need to get better at hiding bobby pins, but I'm pretty pleased with it!

Have a good day!!

Carnival in Cologne (AKA Karneval in Köln)

Last night I got back from what may have been the most fun weekend of my entire life!

A festive pastry shop

Bender! The Germans seem to really love Matt Groening cartoons... there were Simpsons everywhere.

LOOK AT THIS BABY.

Found a fellow Peter Pan! I love a man in tights.
Getting thrown in the air by Kermit the Frog was definitely a memorable part of the party experience. (Pardon my exposed slip!)
