Marion Ravenwood: Morocco, Part 2

I went to Morocco with two goals. The first was to find an outfit reminiscent of Marion Ravenwood, the badass and adorable heroine from the first Indiana Jones movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark.

I succeeded in finding something similar! AND in finding a new little friend who helped make my pictures that much more Marion-like!

Red and Turquoise: Morocco, Part 1

This morning, I got back from Marrakech! My 70s maxi dresses were put to very good use there.
In non-clothes related news, Marrakech was hands-down my favorite place that I've ever travelled to! The people are friendly and hospitable, the food is delicious, and the shopping! (there I go on clothes again!)

These shoes are one of my very favorite purchases! They are (surprisingly) super comfortable! They're like Princess Jasmine shoes meet oxford shoes! I love them sooooo much!

Dreaming About Derby

IT'S ALMOST HERE, Y'ALL!
Derby season in Louisville is probably the most exciting holiday season for the city. Wreaths of roses are everywhere, stores begin to devote themselves solely to selling fabulous, elaborate hats, and people go on shopping rampages for pocket squares, seersucker, and sundresses.
As a proud citizen of Kentucky, I am somewhat ashamed to admit that I have never been to the actual race. Or any horse race, for that matter. I've gone to Derby parties and watched the race on TV every year for as long as I can remember, have been to the Derby Museum and Churchill Downs at least 3 times and the Kentucky Horse Park even more times, but I have never attended an actual race!
It's probably for the best, though, as I probably wouldn't be able to resist the temptation to re-enact this:

Even though the attendees of our horse races in Kentucky are decidedly less dressed by Cecil Beaton than the Ascot-attending crowd in My Fair Lady, most of them manage to look pretty fabulous! Big hats, darling sundresses, boater hats, pocket squares... *sigh* I wanna go sooooo baaaaaaad!
Anyway, here is some Derby fashion inspiration, past and present. =]

Superman Ice Cream!

This outfit is a tribute to the greatest ice cream in existence.

Now, some people are under the impression that Superman ice cream is just vanilla ice cream with food coloring. Some people are wrong. The vanilla ice cream with food coloring is called Krazy Kolors.
Krazy Kolors isn't doing it right.
Superman ice cream is the beauteous as well as delicious combination of blue moon, lemon, and red pop ice cream.
Once you know its glory, you are forever changed.
And every time you see the color combination of pink, yellow, and bright blue, you are filled with a happiness that comes only from the memory of Superman ice cream.

Florence Part 4: The City of the Sun

....in which I went to a market, rode a carousel, visited the Boboli Gardens, dressed to blind passersby with my brightness, and made some daisy chains.

This blindingly sunny ensemble mostly came from a store in Brussels called Think Twice. At the end of each month they have a sale to clear everything out--everything in the store goes from €3 to €2 to €1 and then she restocks the whole store! (I went on a €3 day and found all sorts of goodies that you will be seeing eventually.)

The morning after this lovely day, it was time to return to Brussels. Florence has definitely been my favorite place so far!
